Ms. Tatum, Assistant Principal
Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year!!!

My name is Ms. Krystye Tatum, and I am ecstatic to be an Assistant Principal at Woodward Elementary School. As the 2023-2024 school year is upon us, we need to remember that, we are roaring towards heights of great attainment academically, socially, and emotionally. As your Assistant Principal, it is my job to build a working relationship with the students, staff, parents, and the community where all stakeholders feel valued with a voice of equity. As the year progresses, my goal is to create those interpersonal relationships that focus on increasing student achievement and support. My educational background is rooted in educating, mentoring, and inspiring students to grow and love the art of learning.

I am a native of Atlanta, Georgia, where I attended Fulton County and Atlanta Public Schools for my formative education. I also attended Georgia Southern University, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Minor in Latin American Studies. I then decided to attend Mercer University, where I received a Masters of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Middle Grades Language Arts and Social Studies. After graduation, I decided to attend Kennesaw State University, where I received an Educational Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and the University of Georgia, where I received my Tier I Certification in Educational Leadership. I am currently pursuing my Tier II Certification and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University because I am an avid educator that believes in continuing education. I have had the pleasure of teaching students in grades Kindergarten through twelfth throughout my twenty-two years in education. I have also had the opportunity to serve in multiple leadership roles throughout my career. However, my true passion is curriculum and instruction and the impact that it has on student achievement and instructional practices.

Education is vital to establishing a strong foundation on which understanding is based. I also believe that education is the key to success for all students. As Assistant Principal, I hope to motivate teachers in asserting their inner strengths and abilities and discovering what truly inspires them. I aim to guide teachers in developing the skills and knowledge necessary in establishing a strong foundation in instructional strategies and pedagogy, thereby reigniting their passion for educating the 21st Century Learner.

I am invested in the Brookhaven community, and I am happy to be YOUR Assistant Principal!

“A school’s Culture resides in the hearts and souls of its leadership, teachers, staff, and students. A true CULTURE of LEARNING will tend to transcend the physical walls of the school and flow out into the community.”
